Code of Conduct

EAG strives for a safe and welcoming environment for all people entering Guild Hall or engaging with EAG’s programs. This Code of Conduct aims to clarify expectations and aid in reaching accountability if or when harm occurs.

All visitors, members, and clients of EAG are expected to:
  • Obey the Law, including all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations. Violation of laws and regulations may subject individuals, as well as EAG, to civil and/or criminal penalties.
  • Acknowledge –and resist– oppressive systems. We know that each of us moves through the world with different privileges and obstacles. While we reach for a world free of oppression, we acknowledge that racism, sexism, ableism, antisemitism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, and classism are ongoing realities of our world. While no space is ever 100% safe for all people, we strive to make our spaces as safe as possible, mindful of these systems.
  • Respect each other. It is essential to treat others with kindness, to treat each how we each ask to be treated, to acknowledge stated need, and to speak up when a need is not being met. This includes respecting names and pronouns, never making generalizations based on someone’s identity, and speaking for ourselves and from our own experiences. We will not insult each other, touch each other without consent, nor intentionally make anyone feel less than or unsafe.
  • Help each other. EAG is, at its core, an aid organization. We commit to fostering an ethos of mutual respect which manifests in big ways and small. This might include assisting someone with the chairlift in our entryway, speaking up when disrespect or harm is occurring, or listening to someone who needs an ear. We know that collaboration is the root of a strong community.
  • Cooperate with EAG's staff and treat them with respect and kindness. They are there to help you and keep an orderly environment. They want you to have a good experience and deserve a positive work environment.
  • Be patient with the restroom line. We know it can be long and the space is tight, but do not become pushy or rude. Everyone will get their turn.
  • Maintain confidentiality with EAG services. Anyone seeking aid from EAG has the right to keep this relationship confidential.

Accountability

EAG seeks to prevent, interrupt, or repair harm. We encourage our community to speak up if harm is occuring. EAG staff members are ready to intervene or intercept conflict. We will do our best to remedy the situation through dialogue. In rare instances, EAG will ban individuals from the premises and events. Such instances include intentional physical harm or severe disrespect.

Should you require assistance with a conflict at EAG or with a member of the EAG community, please feel free to reach out to either:
