A recipe for Pantry shoppers from Brooke Hoover

Hello!

I'm Brooke Hoover, an actor who's relied on EAG for assistance to help me through some rough times over the last few years. Professional headshots, emergency financial assistance, and the food pantry are just some of the many resources EAG provides. Every time I see one of the volunteers, I'm immediately reminded of the warm, nurturing, and welcoming community EAG has created...the vibes are very similar to one of my favorite chefs...cue Ina Garten!

While watching re-runs of Barefoot Contessa, I realized I had all of the ingredients in my pantry to make her delicious Peanut Butter and Jam Bars. Maybe it's my creative background as an actor or an ability most likely inherited from my Cajun ancestors to make something from "nothing," but I noticed that the main ingredients for this recipe are always in stock at the EAG Actors Pantry. So I thought I'd adapt the recipe slightly (making it a smaller portion for NYC size kitchens or smaller households, and with slightly less sugar too). Ina Garten always says you can make delicious food with simple, good-quality ingredients, and the Actors Pantry provides excellent quality products (the jam, y'all!). I've combined my background in performing and my love of food in a podcast called Who's Dat Phat Girl if you would like to give it a listen. Please visit www.brookehoover.com/podcast or most anywhere podcasts are available.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and are inspired to make pantry staples the star of the show...or dish.
