Frequently asked Questions

Do I have to be Episcopalian (Christian, religious) to get help or to become a member?

No.  We help qualifying professional performers without regard to religious beliefs.  Our membership, like our client base, is of "all faiths, and none."

Do I have to be in the Union to get help?

No, you do not have to be a member of any of the performers' unions in order to qualify for assistance.

I am a performer. What are the criteria for getting financial assistance?

You must be a working professional performer living in the New York City metro area.  For a complete list of requirements, go to the Eligibility for EAG's Services page.

I am interested in applying for one of your scholarships.  how do I apply?

EAG awards five annual scholarships to theatre students at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and the University of Missouri.  The scholarship recipients are chosen by the administration of the schools. Please contact them for more information.

Why should I become a member?

When you become a member, you are not only showing your support for New York actors in need, you get the opportunity to network, volunteer, and collaborate with our diverse membership of over 600 theatre professionals and friends of the arts.  Other perks of membership include "Members Only" pricing for EAG events and when renting Guild Hall, discounts on headshots by Ahron R. Foster Photography, and a subscription to The Eaglet (our triannual newsletter).

Do I have to be an actor to join?

Not at all! If you value the performing arts, and enjoy spending time with others who do too, joining EAG is the right move for you!

I want to donate some food to your Actors Pantry.  What should I give?

Until it is safe to gather in Guild Hall again, we will be distributing groceries via gift cards and delivery services in lieu of offering the food from our physical pantry. If you would like to donate to this cause, please visit our "make a donation" page; when you are prompted to add special instructions to the seller, write "pantry."

When Guild Hall opens again, we will accept all nonperishable food items.  In order to accept the item, it must not be expired or damaged.  For ideas on specific items to donate, please go to the Actors Pantry page and scroll down to Suggested Items to Donate. We also welcome your tax-deductible donations.

I have a great idea for an EAG event! Who should I tell?

Submit a one page proposal to Rebecca Lovett at rebecca@actorsguild.org.

Do you rent out your space?

Yes we do!  Check out the Rent Our Space page for all of the details.
