The Thomas Barbour Playwrights Award

Picture
The Barbour Award was created in 2007 to celebrate new work for the theatre. Each year, EAG partners with a different local theatre company, playwriting program, or playwriting collective to present staged readings of three new plays, with one writer being awarded a prize of $500.
  • The 2022 Barbour Award readings will take place in June 2022.
  • It is the responsbility of our Barbour partner to select our three Barbour Award finalists. We are looking for full-length plays that have not yet had a full production. These plays should be "production-ready" drafts, not early or mid-process pieces.
  • EAG can only accept applications from a company, collective or playwriting program working with at least 3 different playwrights. Individual playwrights are not able to apply on their own for this Award.
The Application to apply to be our 2022 parner is now live (bit.ly/barbour2022). We are accepting applications from January 10, 2022 until February 4, 2022.  No applications will be accepted after the deadline.

The Barbour Committee will evaluate all applications and hopes to select EAG's 2022 partner by the end of Februrary 2022.
Apply to be EAG's 2022 Barbour Partner
