THE 2010 THOMAS BARBOUR MEMORIAL PLAYWRIGHT'S AWARD
March 18, 21 & 25, 2010
Guild Hall, 1 E. 29th St.
New York, NY 10016
It is with great pleasure that we announce that for the 2010 Barbour Award, EAG will partner with New York's The Women's Project, "the nations oldest and largest theatre company devoted to producing the work of female artists." The Women's Project, which has worked with actors such as John Spencer, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Anna Deveare Smith, has for this special event provided EAG with three of their most promising plays. Each of these three works will be presented in an exciting staged reading at Guild Hall, with a panel awarding one playwright a $500 prize.
The Thomas Barbour Memorial Playwright’s Award was established in 2007 by a generous gift from Janet Barbour Carhart, and was fully endowed from further gifts from Alison Barbour Fox and a portion of a bequest left to the Guild by Mr. Barbour’s estate. The first award was given to Jack Frankel for his play “Human Voices” in March 2008, and in 2009, the prize went to Hunter College's Alicia Silver for her play "Golden."
